Grotesque self-aggrandizement?

Or very real opportunity to get comics into the hands of people who by and large are completely ignored by the DM as a whole?

COMICON.com: 50 CENT & G-UNIT COMIC BOOK STARS

I'm not all that wild about Mr. Cent or his associate Mr. Unit, but this could be a big thing, assuming that the books are of any reasonable quality to sustain themselves past flash-in-tha-pan status. I know that Ed was hoping for more hip-hop comics, but I'm not sure this is what he had in mind.

And why the hell wasn't there a Wu-Tang Clan comic? Or was there? And if there was, why wasn't it the biggest thing since sliced bread?

Yep--not what I was looking for at all. Like this one, though, there's a Public Enemy comic scheduled to come out at some point. I had hoped for more comics with a hip hop sensibility, rather than some licensing-type deal. But, hey, if it works, I'm not going to complain.

As far as Wu Tang, yes... I think Avalon Comics had one out, but it didn't focus on the rap group directly. I think it was pretty crappy, too--there was some reason I never checked it out myself. Also, RZA did one of those digital comic books with Stan Lee based on his Bobby Digital persona.

(G-Unit is a group, not a guy)

I'd suggest that licensed comics make for a good gateway drug. Worked for me, anyways.

As to your identification of G-Unit as a group, I know. I was trying to make with the funny. Evidently unsuccessfully.

Or maybe my humor-o-meter is off.
